When a person creates a website, he hopes to bring traffic to the site to make the brand popular or to just earn money via Google Ads or affiliate marketing. But bringing traffic to the website is the hardest part, it’s harder than you think. While there are endless lists on how to can get more people to come to your website, and fulfill your desire, we are writing down another list, which, if not better in any way but surely isn’t rubbish.
WordPress as a Blogging Platform
When you think of hosting a website, the cheapest options are Blogspot or WordPress, and you will need to choose one between the two. You will essentially have to stick to whatever you choose. But unknown to a lot of new, naive bloggers, WordPress tends to be a search engine like Google’s favorite platform over say Blogspot.
When you set your site on the platform, you are putting the right foot forward. Setting up a website on WordPress is easy, and there are several tutorials on the subject available free of cost.
Number of Plugins
The question hovers in the air. There are debates on both sides where people either support that one can use as many plugins as one needs while on the side, people think too many plugins can bring down the performance of the site, along with the loading speed (more on this later).
Now, we recommend so basic plugins that you will need to keep the site up and running properly. We urge you to not go overboard with plugins, however, because it may cause your site to break down.
Content is Still King
Nothing you do will bring traffic and keep them coming if you don’t produce quality content. Content is still what makes or breaks your site, so we recommend you handle it carefully. You will need to chalk out a plan and then execute them. You will have to analyze what is working and what isn’t.
You will have to see what people are demanding more of and do it more. What people are criticizing, you will need to do that less. Listen to your audience and act accordingly.
Start Guest Blogging
One of best ways to make a website popular is to approach influencers. Ask him to do a guest post on your website, or you can do a guest post on his website, which of course will be harder. The proper way of going about doing this is by being a regular on the personal website.
Leave a meaningful comment that will lead him to leave a reply and then slowly engage in a conversation. Start following him on social media and when the time is right, pitch him an excellent collaborative work, that he’ll be unable to say no to.
Your Website’s Speed
Today the attention span of people are less than 2 seconds, so if your website takes over 10 minutes to load, before long, people will hit the back button and you will lose traffic before getting it.
We recommend that you bring down the website loading speed to less than 2 seconds. Do what you have to do in order to achieve this.
If you have any questions regarding the points we just mentioned, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
